About Barbara

For me, art is an expression of joy and freedom. Joy derived from the beauty of God’s creations – celestial and terrestrial. From supernovae of space to auroras in our atmosphere to the colorful scenes around us, there is joy.

I find pleasure in children, animals and pets – each discovers the world from an innocent perspective, and each delights in the amusements of life – a quality I hope to keep forever.

I paint with reverence and respect for what I see and feel in God’s creation. I make my art available to others so we can share the delights of the world I see. The Green Rabbit is my logo. He is unique, inquisitive, playful, and full of himself. He came to me in my imagination as do many of my works.

I am a self taught artist and photographer, excited and inspired by all God brings into my corner of the world. I am also retired, a wife, mother and grandmother, living with my husband in Westminster Colorado.

As a child, I learned to paint and “make” things – from doll clothes to tree houses. My mother was an amateur artist who encouraged me to be expressive and creative. My childhood was filled with reverence for life and the wonder of God's creation. Being outside was much more fun than being in school. Funny that I should become a school teacher when I grew up.

At the young age of 19, I married my first husband. Life became busy. My husband and I completed our education – both became teachers. Our family grew from 2 to 5. We were blessed with a son and two daughters. When our children were young, I encourage them to learn, be creative, and enjoy life. But I had little time to pursue my desire to paint.

When the children were in high school, my husband was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Now as the head of the household, I devoted myself to completing the job of raising children and providing for their education. Soon, my children completed their education. After 10 years of being a widow, I married a wonderful, kind and supportive man – Marty.

Now that I am retired, I am enjoying the family and the time to pursue my interests – two of which are water color painting and photography. I began to paint with watercolor a few years ago – just for fun and to relax. Family and friends have encouraged me to share my art and photos with others. So enjoy.
